In May 2014, the first ever UK Hoarding Awareness Week will be undertaken by Fire and Rescue Services (FRSs) across the UK.

UK Hoarding Awareness Week 2014 has three key objectives:

  • To spread more widely an awareness of hoarding facts
  • To promote greater understanding and acceptance across those who can influence change
  • To encourage a stronger tendency for those who can influence change to support and promote at key moments.

Effective partnership working is essential to address the spread of interests and responsibilities and should form an important part of any area’s unintentional-injury prevention strategy and work plans. It can help to achieve cost-effectiveness and avoid duplication of effort, making sure that all available resources are used in the best possible way.
